Devotional | The God Who Heals
God’s will must be discovered through His Word. Faith cannot rise above our knowledge of God’s Word and God’s will. Faith begins and ends where the Word of God is known.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:2-4
It is God’s desire for His people to prosper in all things and be in health. Prosperity is not merely financial. It includes:
- Spiritual life
- Soul and mind
- Physical health
- Relationships
- Stewardship and finances
Prosperity begins with your soul prospering, which includes renewing your mind to God’s Word.
Healing is one of the promises of God that must be received by faith. And faith comes through hearing God’s Word. We cannot exercise faith beyond our knowledge of God’s will.
God’s will is not discovered through personal experiences, traditions, emotions, or circumstances. God’s will must be discovered through the Word of God.

The fact that not everyone receives healing does not change God’s will to heal, just as the fact that not everyone is saved does not change God’s will to save us. God’s will remains true even when people do not experience it.
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
God’s Will
God wills to save
God wills us to live holy
God wills us to forgive
God wills to heal
Human Experience Does Not Change It
Not everyone is saved
Not every believer lives holy
Not every believer forgives
Not everyone receives healing
The Scriptures testify of Jesus. Jesus reveals the Father. To know God’s will, we must look at Jesus. He never made anyone sick, and He never rejected anyone who came to Him for healing.
God’s will is found in the Word of God, both written and living.
The written Word is Scripture.
The living Word is Jesus.
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38
Healing is good. Sickness is connected with oppression. Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed of the devil. Jesus’ ministry revealed God’s heart toward sickness and healing. If we want to know the truth about God’s will, we must study Jesus and the Scripture. If we’ve seen Jesus, we have seen the Father (Colossians 1:15, John 14:6–9).
Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high… Hebrews 1:3
God’s will to heal must be settled in our hearts. Healing is received by faith in God’s Word and God’s nature. As believers, we need to be equipped to receive healing and minister healing to others.
The reality that every person will eventually die does not cancel God’s will to heal. God’s will is to minister life and healing to His people until their appointed time.
Top 5 Reasons We Know God Heals

Jesus perfectly reveals the nature of God. If we want to know God’s will concerning healing, we look at Jesus.
- Jesus never made anyone sick.
- Jesus never turned anyone away who came to Him for healing.
- Jesus revealed that God’s nature is to heal.
Not everyone receives healing, just as not everyone receives salvation, forgiveness, or holiness—but that does not change God’s will.

Faith works by love. The more we know God’s love for us, the more confidently we can believe His Word.
Jesus is love made visible (1 John 4:8). If you want to know what God’s love looks like among hurting people, look at Jesus.
When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. Matthew 14:13-14
Jesus healed because He was moved with compassion. Healing was not about Jesus proving who He was. Jesus did what He did because of who He is.
God’s love removes fear, torment, and insecurity (1 John 4:17-18). Knowing God loves you strengthens your faith to receive from Him.

Healing is revealed in the name of God. He is Jehovah Rapha—the Lord who heals.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
The name of Jesus is above every name, including the name of every sickness, disease, addiction, and bondage.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:6
God’s people are followed by mercy. Mercy is part of life in relationship with the living God.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:2-5
Many believers have forgotten the benefits of God. Among those benefits are forgiveness, healing, redemption, mercy, and renewal.

God’s Word reveals God’s will. His Word carries life, power, and healing.
He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. Psalm 107:20-22
God’s Word carries healing power. God sends His Word not only to instruct, but to heal and deliver from destruction. Healing is connected to God’s goodness and wonderful works.
