Devotional | There’s Nothing You Can Do

He loves us unconditionally, meaning there are no requirements or exceptions. You cannot earn His love and not even one of us deserves His love. God’s love is constant and consistent with no variation. It is not up or down; it is eternally present and always available. There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you any more or any less.
God has provided the atonement for all our sins, so nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus today. Yet, people believe God only loves them enough to save them, not enough to heal or prosper them. They believe He requires us to quit certain things or start doing certain things to be fully loved. Most of us don’t have any context for being truly loved, with no conditions attached.

Our sins, past, present, and future have been atoned for, and forgiven by the blood of Jesus. God is not holding our mistakes over our heads. Sin has no power over us anymore and it can’t separate us from God and His love, ever again. God is not withholding any good thing from you because of sin. He freely gives His love, fellowship, healing, grace and so much more. Everyone Jesus healed was a sinner. Everyone He spoke to was a sinner. The people He ate with were sinners. It vividly shows us His unconditional nature.
'Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,' Acts 3:19
When we repent of our sins, we are converted—born again—and our sins are blotted out. ALL of our sins. Jesus died one time for sin forever, and we have eternal redemption through His blood and the work of the cross. God gave His Son because He loves us unconditionally and He forgives us unconditionally.
'We love Him because He first loved us.' 1 John 4:19

We love God because He first loved us. We did not initiate God’s love. We didn’t love God first and then He loved us back. That’s a horizontal, worldly understanding of love. We need to have our minds renewed through the scriptures and by the Holy Spirit. Our relationship with God and His love is unconditional. It’s based on who He is, not on who we aren’t. It takes time to renew our minds to this unconditional relationship we have with the Lord.
'For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.' Galatians 5:6
'My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.' Psalms 89:34
God’s unconditional love is a covenant promise that He has bound Himself to keep and it is unbreakable. The word covenant in Hebrew means to cut until bleeding occurs—all covenants have blood that seals the promise. Our covenant with God is sealed with Jesus Christ’s blood and it cannot be broken. God cannot lie and He cannot change. The blood of Jesus guarantees the promise of unconditional love and forgiveness. It is all about HIM.
'But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.' Romans 5:8-10
God sees us in Jesus, through the blood that justified us. We need to understand that if we fail, fall, or mess up, we can run straight to God instead of running away from Him. God is not mad at us, disappointed in us, or against us. God is for us. We can be fully persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, the Lord.

We are loved by God so deeply that most of us have a difficult time grasping its full impact. We cannot alter, retract, adjust, deserve, or undo what God has already done on our behalf. We are loved exactly the way we have been, the way we are right now, and the way we will be in the future. That means He will not withhold any good thing from us. Praise God!
