Devotional | The Mystery of Seeds
In the Kingdom, there are mysteries associated with ‘seeds’ and the law of sowing and reaping.
‘And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.’ Matthew 13:10-11
The mysteries of the Kingdom have been given to some and hidden from others. Mysteries are revealed to those who love and seek God.
‘He explained, “You’ve been given the intimate experience of insight into the hidden mysteries of the realm of heaven’s kingdom, but they have not. For everyone who listens with an open heart will receive progressively more revelation until he has more than enough. But those who don’t listen with an open, teachable heart, even the understanding that they think they have will be taken from them.’ Matthew 13:11-12 TPT
These mysteries are divine secrets that are hidden in God. Those who fear (worship) God and have a heart toward Him are the ones who receive revelation. Those who turn away and reject Him are blind and deaf to the mysteries of the Kingdom. God is not hiding anything from us as the people of God. He has implemented seedtime and harvest, and every need you have is met in seed form. It is important we learn how to plant, water, and reap our harvest.
There are laws—principles, unchangeable constants—that God has woven into nature, and these laws are reliable and predictable. When we cooperate with them, we are blessed, but when we violate them, we are cursed.

‘While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.’ Genesis 8:22
Every need we have, God has provided an incorruptible seed. Everything came from and is connected to seeds, and this eternal, indiscriminate law is woven into the Kingdom of God.
These immutable laws govern the universe and our natural world, unveiling what is supernatural in the Kingdom of God. They are non-biased, undiscriminating against anyone—the rain falls on the just and the unjust. As sure as there is day and night, cold and heat, winter and summer, a seed sown in time will reap a harvest.
‘Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.’ Galatians 6:7-8
Whatever we sow, is what we will reap. And if we sow to our flesh, we will reap corruption. Corruption means to go from good to bad. God doesn’t withhold His blessings, but the devil will corrupt them. When we sow to the Spirit, we reap all the blessings and benefits of eternal life. When or if we sow to our flesh, we need to repent. Repentance is digging up a bad seed and sowing a good seed.
In God’s grace, He has provided seeds for every need in our lives. We mix faith with His Word by sowing it into our hearts and our circumstances.

‘And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.’ Mark 4:26-29
We start with a seed, we sow it, and then we rest. We don’t need to understand everything or manipulate the seed, but trust the process of seedtime and harvest. The law of seeds is a foundational principle in the Kingdom of God, and this is how the Kingdom works. We came from seeds. We’re born again because of seeds. All of our food comes from seeds. Our livelihood comes from seeds. Our actions come from seeds. Seedtime and harvest.
Often we don’t discern our harvest properly, because we sowed seed in one form, but it comes back in another form. This is not to say that if you sow corn, you’re going to get apples. However, an orange seed sown could come back in the form of orange juice. A tiny acorn could come back as a piano, a baseball bat, or a log cabin.

‘So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.’ 1 Corinthians 15:42-44
Our bodies are seeds sown in one form and reaped in another form. Jesus’ body was sown in one form as a seed, but it’s been reaped in a completely different form (Luke 24). Communion, when approached properly and mixed with faith, reveals Jesus in the breaking of bread.
‘Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).’ John 20:15-16
Jesus was sown in one form, but reaped in another form. We must be mindful of this principle. We might sow finances and reap in a form other than physical money. Material and financial blessings can be reaped in many different forms. We need to be humble in our sowing, and humble also in the reaping of our harvest. As we learn to trust the Lord, He will show us the harvest He brought for the seeds we have sown. It is a mystery.
