It is important for us to understand the basic of faith. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb 11:6) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of your-selves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph 2:8-9) It is our role to walk in faith and to grow in it. “… faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Ro 10:17)
- Three cooperative powers working with faith:
- In Hope – goals, dreams, visions, desires and expectations References: Heb 11:1, Mr 11:24; Ps 37:4-5; Pr 13:12;
- By God’s Love – how faith works (Ga 5:6); casts out fear
- Fear of death (Heb 2:14-15)
- Fear of man (Pr 29:25; Joh 12:41-43; Zep 3:17)
- Religious fear (Lu 1:71-75)
- Unhealthy fear of God
- Tormenting fear
- Fear of rejection
- With Patience and endurance – involves trials, tribulations and suffering (Heb 6:12: Jas 1:2-4; 1 Pe 1:3-9; 1 Pe 2:19-23)
Beware of two big thoughts that arrive with testing: 1. If I just had more faith, this wouldn’t have happened. Or: 2. If God really loves me why is this happening? God’s love should never be question. It is our love being tested. Listen and be blessed.
